t Alchemy, we believe simplicity to be of fundamental importance. Because our fiber and colors are exceptional, we strive for design that does not distract from the beauty inherent in our yarns. In addition, we believe knitting can be a most effective form of meditation. Writes Susan Gordon Lydon in The Knitting Sutra, “I believe that in the quiet, repetitive, hypnotic rhythms of creating craft, the inner being may emerge in all its quiet beauty.” For many people, the repetitive movement so often becomes a mantra, a rosary, an opportunity for prayer. Therefore, we offer designs that allow for the transformative experience in knitting. One can relax into the rhythm and rightness of the craft, and still create an object of delight and beauty without endless counting of rows, or stressing over complex design.

Patterns are available from Alchemy retailers only. We do not sell the designs directly from the site. To find a retailer that stocks the Alchemy designs or yarns you're looking for, click here.
